Is it wrong to turn down expensive gifts from a generous boyfriend?
The thing is, my bf of a few months has already brought me some really beautiful jewellery (ring and earrings) from his trip to his homeland in India. But now he also wants to buy me two more things after seeing them when we were just casually walking around the mall today.. my favourite perfume and a body butter. But they're quite expensive and I'm not sure if I should accept his generosity. I feel a bit bad if I do because I know he doesn't really have a lot of money. He's a Tibetan Buddhist so he's very kind and giving even if he were poor, but I don't want him to go overboard for me with material gifts.. I'm so painfully shy when it comes to receiving. I become easily embarassed. My mum always taught me to remain humble and modest, and not to let a man spoil you too much by accepting all sorts of gifts cause if you do you're a user.... So I don't know what to do. I don't want to abuse his kindness. I've never had a bf so generous before so I'm not used to this. =/
You should talk to him. Tell him how you feel. Tell him you feel kind of bad or guilty about him spending a lot of money on you. If you just turn down the gifts and dont give an explanation he may be hurt. Tell him you feel like you are using him by him spending a lot of money on you.
If you do things for him too then you arent using him. If its all take take take then you would be using him. Talk to him. Nice guys arent too common these days.
