Butter in place of Shortening in Biscuit recipe?

Well, I am tryig to go as natural as I can...So many people replace butter with shortening, because better has a bad rap for being fatty~~~But do these people know that shortening and margarine are derived from hydrogen atoms being placed with fatty parts of soybeans, or corn....With more chemicals to add that "pleasant buttery taste"
Hydrogenated oils tear up your liver, and create cellulite (because your body cannot metabolise it for nourishment of your cells, nor can your stomach acid break it down, then the bile cannot break it down further, so it goes as stored waste on your butt and so forth.

Now, I know that having shortening once in a while will not kill me,
but if I used butter in my biscuits, would that make them rock hard?
How did the women back in the day make their biscuits fluffy?
like, 1800's?

Back in the day women used lard. If you can find it, that would be the best to use. If not, you have to use shortening. Butter is not acceptable for biscuits until after you bake them and then you put butter on to eat them.
