Know any good Butter/Oil substitutes?
Right. So I'm on a restricted diet and am not allowed to use or cook with any butter or oil. I like to eat healthy food to begin with, and usually cook with extra virgin olive oil, but this diet (which is doctor-prescribed), is trying to put "natural" food in your body without the problems you come across when you try to digest man-made dairy and oil products. It is SO hard!
I'm hoping that you guys will have some good suggestions for what I could use instead of butter and oil. I'm allowed to use a "little bit" of Pam, but it is so bland that I'd rather try some alternatives.
It all depends upon the recipe, but I've found I can substitute broth for the butter/oil in certain sauteed or baked meat and veggie dishes. You might check some of the vegan questions and answers for what they use.
